  • Day 06 Dingboche – Rest and acclimatization day
  • Day 07 Dingboche – Lobuche (4,940 m/16,207 ft): 7 km, 4-5 hrs
  • Day 08 Lobuche - Gorak Shep (5,160 m/16,930 ft) - Base Camp (5,364 m/17,594 ft): Gorak Shep, 15 km, 7-8 hrs
  • Day 09 Gorak Shep - Kala Patthar (5,545 m/18,193 ft) – Pheriche (4,280 m/14,070ft): 15 km, 7-8 hrs
  • Day 10 Pheriche – Namche Bazaar (3,440 m/11,284 ft): 15 km, 6-7 hrs
  • Day 11 Namche Bazaar – Lukla (2,780 m/9,175 ft): 18 km, 6-7 hrs
  • Day 12 Lukla – Kathmandu (1,300 m/4,264 ft): 35 min flight

Trek Permit and Costs

A trekker must first sign up for the Trekkers' Information Management System (TIMS). The following is the fee of visiting the Sagarmatha National Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site):

  • Each person pays NRS 3,000 per entry.(aprox US $ 25)

Visa Fees

  • The cost of a 15-day Tourist Visa with Multiple Entry is $30 USD or equivalent foreign currency.
  • The cost of a 30-day tourist visa with multiple entries is $50 USD or equivalent foreign currency.
  • The cost of a 90-day tourist visa with multiple entries is $125 USD or equivalent foreign currencies.
  • Tourists possessing passports from South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries are not required to pay a visa fee for 30 days, regardless of the provisions specified in 1(a) and 1(b).

Make sure you have additional cash with you in addition to the above costs and the total amount for your Everest Base Camp trek that you will be paying to your travel agency. If you need cash quickly, you can find ATMs in the city, but you won't find any in the Himalayas. It would also be beneficial to have a currency with smaller denominations. Foreign currencies (such as the US dollar, the British pound, the Australian dollar, and others) will be accepted almost everywhere.
