The Everest Base Camp Trek commences with 40 minutes scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu (1400m) to Lukla airport (2,845m). The trekkers must submit Park Permit card at Monjo Check Point to enter the highest elevated National Park of Nepal. The park is the habitat of several species of flora and fauna including the endangered wild animals like Snow Leopard and Red Panda. It was established to protect the wildlife and endangered species of this region as the mysterious land in the Himalayas is abundantly rich in natural resources. The park covers the area of 1,244 sq km and encircles different valleys, lakes, glaciers, snow-capped peaks including Mt. Everest.

The different Sherpa settlements in EBC route offer the prayer flags, Mani wheels, Inscribed Mani boulders, Chortens, Gompas, etc. The people of this region were believed to have been migrated from Tibet some 400 years ago who have still revived the traditional Tibetan culture and language. The people of this region are so simple, amiable, generous and rigid devotee of Buddhism. The Tengboche and Pangboche Gompas are one of the oldest Gompas which have its own importance and history. The former one is the largest gompa of Khumbu region encircled by Ama Dablma, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse and Tawache which performs the longest Mani Rimdu Festival in the month of October-November; while the later one was believed to have the original yeti’s scalp and hand but now has the replica only.
