✔️ Carry a power bank (10,000–20,000mAh recommended)
✔️ Bring extra camera batteries for photography
✔️ Use airplane mode to save battery life
✔️ Reduce screen brightness and background apps
✔️ Charge devices whenever electricity is available in teahouses
Electricity on Langtang Trekking (Langtang Valley Trekking) is basic but manageable with proper preparation. By planning ahead and carrying backup power sources, trekkers can keep their devices charged, capture the stunning views of the Langtang Himalayas, glaciers, and alpine valleys, and stay connected during the journey.
Always carry a reliable power bank and spare batteries to ensure uninterrupted access to photos, navigation apps, and important communication while trekking through the breathtaking Langtang Valley region of Nepal.
When booking your Langtang Trekking (also known as the Langtang Valley Trekking) package, it is important to understand the personal expenses that are not included in the standard trekking cost. This beautiful Himalayan trek in the Langtang region of Nepal passes through remote villages, mountain lodges, and high-altitude trails up to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m), with optional hikes to viewpoints like Tserko Ri (4,984m).
Daily personal spending may vary depending on your lifestyle, comfort preferences, and use of additional services along the trekking route. Proper budgeting helps ensure a smooth and enjoyable trekking experience in the Himalayas.
The Langtang Valley Trekking route takes you through villages such as Syabrubesi, Lama Hotel, Langtang Village, and Kyanjin Gompa, where teahouses provide basic accommodation and meals but charge separately for personal services.
Hot drinks and bottled beverages become more expensive at higher elevations due to transportation costs by porters or mules.
Typical prices:
Tea / Coffee: USD 1.5–3 per cup
Hot Lemon / Ginger Tea: USD 2–4
Bottled Water: USD 1–3 (price increases at higher altitude)
Soft Drinks: USD 2–4
Beer: USD 4–7
💡 Tip: Carry a reusable water bottle and water purification tablets to reduce bottled water expenses and help protect the mountain environment.
Most teahouses along the Langtang Trekking trail provide electricity and internet services, but charges increase at higher elevations.
Typical costs:
Mobile charging: USD 2–4 per device
Power bank charging: USD 3–5
Wi-Fi internet: USD 3–6 (limited speed in remote lodges)
Electricity in the region is mainly powered by solar energy or small hydropower systems, so charging availability may be limited in higher villages such as Langtang Village and Kyanjin Gompa.
Personal services are available in many teahouses, but facilities become more basic at higher altitudes.
Hot shower: USD 3–5 per use
Laundry service (limited availability): USD 5–8
Extra blankets: Small additional charge in some lodges
Because the Langtang region is remote, goods and services are transported by porters, yaks, or mules, which slightly increases prices.
Snacks and small personal items are available along the Langtang Valley trekking route, but they are more expensive than in Kathmandu.
Chocolate / Energy Bars: USD 2–4
Biscuits / Chips: USD 1–3
Toiletries: Higher price than city shops
💡 Tip: Buy snacks, toiletries, and small personal supplies in Kathmandu before starting your trek to save money.
Tipping is a common and appreciated tradition in Nepal’s trekking industry. It is a way to thank your trekking staff for their support and hard work.
Typical tipping guidelines:
Guide: USD 10–15 per day (shared by the group)
Porter: USD 7–10 per day
The final tip amount depends on group size, service quality, and overall satisfaction.
Average daily personal spending: USD 15–25 per person
Higher budget: If you frequently use Wi-Fi, buy bottled drinks, or order alcoholic beverages
✔️ Carry enough Nepali cash (ATMs are not available in most trekking villages)
✔️ Prices increase at higher elevations
✔️ Bring a reusable water bottle to reduce bottled water costs
✔️ Plan your personal spending before starting the trek
The personal expenses on Langtang Trekking (Langtang Valley Trekking) are generally affordable with proper planning. Remote mountain lodges rely on porters, mule transport, and solar-powered electricity, which slightly increases the cost of goods and services along the trail.

Langtang Trekking - 12 days
We were recommended Mountain Marts by one of our friends and we’re so glad that we were. From the initial point of contact, Dolakh was brilliant in responding to us quickly by email to answer our questions about different trekking itineraries and the cost of them. We were originally going to do the 7 day Langtang trek but after meeting with Dolakh in the Mountain Mart offices in Kathmandu we decided to extend the trek and do the 14 day Langtang - Gosaikunda trek, and boy we were pleased we did!
Our guide Makar and porter Durga were both excellent. Makar was a fantastic trekking guide and was clearly the most experienced guide on the trek (other guides asked him for advice frequently along the way!). He was extremely knowledgeable about trekking in Nepal and never needed to look at a map once. He was great to talk to on the trek and always kept us motivated too. Durga was also a fantastic, never faltering, porter and was an absolute legend for carrying our bags on the trek. They were both very accommodating to us and saw to our every need without being over the top. We all had a good laugh every evening after dinner and played a range of card games – our favourite was Dumball that Makar taught us.
The trek itself was awesome. The itinerary was great as it gave us a nice mix of some longer and some shorter days trekking so we could rest and re-charge when we needed to. We had to try not be too smug when meeting independent trekkers who would try to do too much in a day or miss a lunch spot etc. The scenery was spectacular and we enjoyed seeing the different views in Langtang and in Gosaikunda. The teahouses were also great to stay in (though sometimes they were very cold – bring a good down coat with you to keep warm!). We were often greeted by a friendly Nepalese family who cooked freshly prepared meals for everyone in the dining room which were warmly welcomed after a day’s trekking. We also enjoyed stopping at the teahouses for lunch and having what became our staple lunch fuel whilst on the trek, Dhal Bhat (Dhal Bhat Power, 24 Hour!).
Overall we had a brilliant time on the trek with Mountain Marts and we would highly recommend them to everyone. We would love to come back to Nepal sometime in the future and we would definitely use Mountain Marts again.
Luckily we managed to finish our trek and get back to Kathmandu before Covid-19 really kicked off but sadly we did have to change our plans and fly back to the UK 10 days early. We hope that Covid-19 passes as soon as possible and opens the world back up for tourism so people can travel again and see how wonderful Nepal is.
Thank you Dolakh, Makar and Durga!

Great treks and unforgettable experiences! Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful folks!
Review of: Langtang Trekking - 12 days
I got to know about Mountain Mart while staying at the hotel run by the same owner (Everest Boutique Hotel, which was also an excellent experience!).
Mr Dolakh, the owner, is super friendly and was extremely helpful during my three weeks in Nepal. I ended up staying at his hotel every time I was in Kathmandu and did two major treks with Mountain Mart over two weeks! He even provided very valueable suggestions to optimize my itinerary!
We first did the Chisapani-Nagarkot-Bhaktapur hike over 3 days and that experience was absolutely fantastic! That made me go for a longer trek with them again, this time to Langtang Valley!
I had Sudip as the guide for both the treks, and I can't recommend him enough! He is experienced and knew the localities and the people of the places very well! He is super courteous and provided top-rated hospitality and services over the course of the two weeks we trekked together! He is also very friendly and cheerful, and we had great conversations and banters together! He planned the trips very well, and always kept my preferences in mind! Would throughly recommend him!
Overall, couple of great experiences with Mountain Mart, and I hope to do more again with them soon!

I had a great experience with Sudip as my guide. We tailored a trek around the Langtang Valley specific for my very limited time.
Sudip was great. He was attentive, knowledgeable and generally a very nice guy. Some of the trek was strenuous, and he was very patient and helpful.
We got quite lucky and saw a lot of wildlife, including langur monkeys, musk deer, mountain goats, Himalayan munal (the National bird of Nepal), and a very elusive fox!

Bhoj and Harka were the best team you could hope for. Bhoj was attentive to all our needs and was always in control of the whole operation, planning ahead… proving he knows the trails, lodges and people very well. Harka, our porter, a hardworking quiet young man who flew over the Himalayas with our luggage on his back. The whole experience was incredibly rewarding specially because of Bhoj’s great attitude and due diligence. And for that, a big thank you.

Five of us just returned from a 7-day Langtang Trek. Our guide, Makar, was awesome! He took good care of us through the entire experience. Mountain Mart does all of the planning and arrangements and includes some very nice extras to their packages. Mountain Mart is by far the best company to use for a trek in Nepal. Before and after our trek we stayed at Mountain Marts' hotel, the Everest Boutique Hotel, in Kathmandu. The hotel is brand new, and we highly recommend it, too. Our itinerary described it as a 3-star hotel, but it is better than most 4-star hotels in the US. Our package also included a Kathmandu city tour before the trek, which we highly recommend, too. From start to finish, our experience was perfect! The Langtang valley is breathtaking, and everywhere we went the people were welcoming and friendly.
