After ½ hour of drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, we begin our trek on foot to Tikhedhunga and finally to Ulleri. Tonight, we take shelter at Ulleri.
Today’s trek is easy, short and comfortable. From Ulleri, we ascend to a view point from where we can witness sparkling Annapurna South and Hiunchuli at distance. Further, we ascend through dense Oak and rhododendron forest and trace small villages Banthati, Nangethati then finally reach at the Ghorepani after taking right turn above lower Ghorapani. Overnight, stay at Ghorepani.

The wide hill top is perfect place for stupendous sunrise view over Annapurna and other snow clad peaks including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, Annapurna fang, Annapurna south, Hiunchuli, Dhampus peak. After enjoying the breath-taking vista, we drop back to Ghorepani and have our breakfast before resuming the trek. After delightful breakfast at Chhomrong, we drop down through the longest stone-stair to Chhomrong Khola, cross the suspension bridge and ascend towards a small village Sinuwa walking through the stone-stair along terraced farmland and green hills. Sinuwa is a tiny village on the ridge which offers the spectacular close-up view of Mt. Fishtail and wondrous scenery. The Poon Hill Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek is one of Nepal’s most accessible and scenic Himalayan treks, offering the iconic sunrise at Poon Hill (3,210m) and the stunning views of the Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m). Along this route, electricity and device charging facilities are available in most villages, allowing trekkers to stay connected and capture every breathtaking Himalayan moment.
Although the trek is better developed than remote Himalayan routes like the Nar Phu Valley or Upper Mustang, proper battery management is essential—especially for early morning sunrise photography at Poon Hill.
Electricity access varies depending on the village, altitude, and local infrastructure:
Lower Section (Nayapul, Tikhedhunga, Ulleri)
✔️ Reliable hydroelectric power
✔️ Charging available in most teahouses
✔️ Electricity generally accessible in evenings
✔️ Some rooms may provide private sockets
Mid Section (Ghorepani, Tadapani, Chomrong)
✔️ Combination of hydro and solar power
✔️ Charging mostly in dining areas
✔️ Power can be limited during peak hours
✔️ Occasional short outages may occur
Annapurna Base Camp Section (Bamboo, Deurali, Machhapuchhre Base Camp, ABC)
✔️ Limited electricity in higher camps
✔️ Solar-powered charging points in some teahouses
✔️ Higher villages may charge extra per device
✔️ Power supply can be affected by weather conditions
Compared to more remote Himalayan treks, electricity is widely available, but availability may vary with altitude, weather, and local infrastructure.
Most teahouses along the trail provide device charging for a nominal fee. Approximate costs are:
Lower villages: USD 1–2 per device
Mid-range villages (Ghorepani, Tadapani, Chomrong): USD 2–3 per device
Higher camps and ABC area: USD 3–5 per device
Typical devices include:
• Mobile phones
• Cameras
• Power banks
• GPS devices
⚠️ Laptops are generally discouraged due to high power consumption. Carrying small Nepali currency for payment is recommended.
The Poon Hill ABC Trek offers better connectivity than most high-altitude Himalayan treks:
✔️ Strong mobile network in lower and mid villages
✔️ Limited network above Deurali; coverage may be intermittent
✔️ Paid Wi-Fi available in some teahouses
✔️ Internet speed may vary depending on weather and local usage
Local SIM cards like NTC and Ncell generally work well up to 3,500 meters, with coverage becoming patchy at higher elevations.
Even with electricity widely available, proper power management ensures you never miss key sunrise moments or mountain photography opportunities:
✔️ Carry a high-capacity power bank (10,000–20,000mAh recommended)
✔️ Bring spare camera and drone batteries
✔️ Keep devices warm during cold early mornings
✔️ Use airplane mode when not in use
✔️ Reduce screen brightness and limit unnecessary apps
✔️ Charge devices during off-peak hours (afternoons recommended)
✔️ Fully charge devices before leaving Pokhara or lower villages
Cold temperatures at higher elevations can drain batteries faster than usual, especially during early morning hikes to Poon Hill.
The Poon Hill ABC Trek offers some of Nepal’s most spectacular sights:
✔️ Sunrise over Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges from Poon Hill
✔️ Iconic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) peak
✔️ Panoramic views from Annapurna Base Camp
✔️ Colorful rhododendron forests
✔️ Traditional Gurung and Magar villages
Since photography and device usage are central to this trek experience, having fully charged devices ensures you capture every Himalayan moment without interruption.
Electricity and charging facilities on the Poon Hill Annapurna Base Camp Trek are generally reliable but may be limited at higher altitudes.
With proper preparation, backup power banks, and smart battery usage, you can comfortably manage your electronics throughout the trek.
Travel prepared, trek with experienced guides, and capture the golden sunrise at Poon Hill and the majestic scenery at Annapurna Base Camp with your devices fully charged for unforgettable Himalayan memories.
When planning your Poon Hill Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek, it’s important to understand the personal expenses that are typically not included in standard trekking packages. Most packages cover accommodation, three meals a day, licensed guide and porter services, and trekking permits, but trekkers should budget for extra daily costs along the trail to ensure a smooth and comfortable journey.
This iconic trek passes through stunning villages such as Ulleri, Ghorepani, Chomrong, Bamboo, Deurali, Machhapuchhre Base Camp, and Annapurna Base Camp, offering the unforgettable sunrise from Poon Hill (3,210m) and panoramic views of Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Dhaulagiri, and Hiunchuli.
Even though this trek is more developed than remote Himalayan routes, extra personal expenses should be considered for budgeting.
Main meals are usually included in full-board trekking packages, but drinks and additional beverages are charged separately.
Average Prices Along the Trail:
Tea / Coffee: USD 2–4 per cup
Hot Lemon / Ginger Honey Tea: USD 3–5
Bottled Water: USD 1–3
Soft Drinks: USD 2–4
Beer: USD 5–8
💡 Budget Tip: Carry a reusable water bottle with purification tablets or a portable filter to reduce costs and stay eco-friendly.
Electricity and charging facilities are widely available on the Poon Hill ABC Trek, though power can be limited in higher villages like Bamboo, Deurali, and ABC.
Estimated Charging Costs:
Mobile phone: USD 1–3 per device
Camera / GoPro batteries: USD 2–3 per device
Power bank: USD 2–4
Wi-Fi (where available): USD 2–5
Charging is typically done in dining halls rather than private rooms, and Wi-Fi speeds may be slower during peak seasons.
Although the trek is more developed than remote Himalayan routes, teahouse facilities are generally basic at higher elevations.
Estimated Costs:
Hot Shower (solar or gas): USD 2–5
Laundry service (available in mid to higher villages): USD 5–8
Extra blankets: Usually free; small charge in busy seasons
Teahouses at Ghorepani, Chomrong, and ABC are relatively well managed, but prices rise slightly with altitude.
Villages along the trail are well supplied, but snacks and toiletries are more expensive than in Pokhara due to transportation costs.
Average Trail Prices:
Chocolate / Energy Bars: USD 2–4
Biscuits / Chips: USD 1–3
Toiletries: Higher than city prices
💡 Smart Advice: Buy snacks and personal essentials in Pokhara before starting the trek to save money.
Tipping is a respected tradition in Nepal and ensures high-quality service. Guides and porters play a key role in safety, comfort, and enjoyment.
Recommended Tipping Guidelines:
Guide: USD 10–15 per day (per group)
Porter: USD 8–12 per day
Final tipping depends on service quality, group size, and overall satisfaction.
Since the Poon Hill ABC Trek is longer and reaches higher altitudes than the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, personal expenses are slightly higher.
Recommended Budget: USD 20–35 per day
Increase your budget if you:
Consume alcohol regularly
Use Wi-Fi frequently
Take daily hot showers
Charge multiple devices
⚠️ Important: There are no ATMs along the trekking route. Carry sufficient Nepali cash from Pokhara or Chomrong before heading higher.

✔️ Confirm what your trekking package includes
✔️ Keep emergency backup funds

✔️ Reduces strain on knees during stair climbs and uphill sections

✔️ Ideal for families, senior travelers, and first-time trekkers

Porter: USD 18–25 per day
What’s Included in the Cost:

I’m just back in Kathmandu from the 7 days Poon Hill Annapurna base camp trek, and had an amazing week. The views were brilliant, as was the walking. Mountain Mart have been fantastic, quickly organizing my trek and ensuring everything went smoothly. They made possible to do ABC trek comfortably, though I have limited time. We had a lot of fun, and my guide Prem kept us well entertained. Great company, great guides, great trekking.

Excellent visit to Poon Hill and Annapurna Base Camp
Went on a private trek to Poon Hill and Annapurna Base Camp. What a great service - everything was so well organised. Communication between myself and Dolakh both before and during the trip was excellent.
My guide, Sudip, was excellent - going above and beyond to ensure that I had a good time. He did a great job of ensuring that the lodges were able to cater to my dietary requirements which was a great relief! He was available to assist with so much more than just guiding whether it be removing the occasional bug from my room, encouraging cattle out of the way or taking the occasional photo at particularly scenic points. I frequently was fortunate to have great accommodation with sublime views thanks to Sudip's knowledge of the lodges.
It's clear that everyone puts in a lot of work at Mountain Mart to ensure that a great trip is had.

My first ever trek completed. I would like to thank Mountain Mart Treks and Expedition, Dolakh, and of course my brilliant guide Ram Bhandari, who made my trek extra special. Me and Ram trekked to Ghorepani Poon Hill (the trek was 8 days in total) to see the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain range at sunrise and it was truly breathtaking. A sight I will forever remember as well as the friendship forged
between me and Ram.
Ram went above and beyond his duties by providing me with fruit and chocolate daily, he constantly filled my water bottle to ensure I was drinking enough. He made sure we stayed at the best accommodations available and he even paid for my internet at every accommodation, which I might add served fantastic food. (Ram took my order and always asked if I wanted more)
Moreover, Ram taught me about Nepalese culture including the language which was very interesting. If anyone is thinking about visiting Nepal, then trekking is a must do. I can't recommend Mountain Mart enough, but be sure to request Ram Bhandari as your guide because he will make it extra special
A great guide, a great person and a great friend!
Thanks once again Mountain Mart, Dolakh and Ram Bhandari.

We felt well taken care of from the time I began communicating with Dolakh months in advance of the trip, to the time we got picked up at the airport, all the way through our trek and days in Pokhara at the end. Our guide Nabin is one of the nicest people we’ve ever met, very sincere, always made sure I and my husband and 14 year old son had plenty of the foods we preferred, made sure we did not leave any items behind at each stop, etc. The trek is challenging and he adapted to our slow pace while still making sure we met our goals each day. Also offered flexibility if we needed to change itinerary. Our porters were also nice and we felt very comfortable. It is amazing the loads they carry while we struggled up the path with day packs. Don’t forget to pack a couple days of street clothes for the end of your journey. Also bring a ton of Nepalese rupees, most everything is cash based, and you’ll want to tip well. (Tips in USD also work.) I highly recommend Mountain Mart. I chose them based on the reviews on Trip Advisor, and they did not disappoint. This was our first trip to Nepal and to Asia, it was a big commitment and it worked out beautifully. I would book with Mountain Mart again.

We, three women, booked our trip via Mountain Mart and it exceeded our expectations. Communication was quick and easy and everything was organised well; our only task was to enjoy our hike.
Kumar and Chitra were our porters. Even though their job is very hard, they gave us nothing but smiles and were there at the end of our hike to high five us.
And last but definitely not least, our guide aka ‘big little brother’ Ram. He was the one person who made sure we reached our end destination by motivating us, even when we were struggling to come up or down the mountain. The private rooms he arranged for us, even in high season, got us enough sleep and the extra vitamin C Ram gave us got us through our cold. He for sure went beyond his duties as a guide. Ram, thank you for all the laughs and your care, you have special place in our heart

Our family of four with 2 children aged 16 and 13, LOVED this trip. Breath taking and one of the very best family bonding experiences. Ram and mountain mart made our life amazing. Absolutely nothing was too much for them. Ram was on hand to help resolve any matter. Close but not invasive. We did the four day and it was enough for our fit family. Mountain mart made it simple. Having a guide made sure my wife and I enjoyed it and could focus on helping our kids with the moment of struggle that are always going to happen. Highly recommend mountain mart and if you want great look no further than Ram

We joined the Poon Hill + ABC trek from Mountain Mart Treks & Expedition.
Our guide, Bhoj, and his team were wonderful in accompanying us throughout this 8 day journey.
Bhoj introduced much information about the Buddhist structures when we came across them during the trek.
Bhoj also showed us many scenic photo taking spots and he never hesitated to take brilliant photos for us.
This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us. We are really grateful to have chosen Mountain Mart Treks & Expedition and had Bhoj with his team as our guide and porter.

“I recently completed the Poon Hill Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Mountain Mart Treks & Expedition, and it was truly one of the best experiences of my life!
From the moment I arrived in Kathmandu, everything was perfectly organized. The team was professional, friendly, and always ready to help. A special thanks to our amazing guide Nabin and our hardworking porter Sujan—they made this journey incredibly comfortable and enjoyable.
Nabin was not only knowledgeable about the mountains, culture, and local villages, but he also ensured our safety and motivation throughout the trek. He always explained the surroundings, shared local stories, and adjusted the pace perfectly for us. Sujan was equally incredible—always smiling, carrying our luggage with care, and supporting us in every step.
The trek itself was breathtaking! Watching the sunrise from Poon Hill was magical, and reaching Annapurna Base Camp surrounded by towering himalayan peaks was an emotional and unforgettable moment. The landscapes, forests, villages, and mountain views were beyond my expectations.
Everything—from accommodation to meals and transportation—was well managed by Mountain Mart Treks. I felt safe, cared for, and truly connected to Nepal.
I highly recommend Mountain Mart Treks & Expedition to anyone planning a trek in Nepal. I will definitely come back for another adventure!
Grazie mille and Namaste! 🙏”

The guest houses were well arranged for guests and my guide, Nabin, took a good care of me by preparing essentials I might need and managing all the meals for me. :) During the trip, my guide based on my situation to adjust the schedule for me which helped me finish the trek comfortably and easily :)

II took my family to Poon Hill Annapurna Base Camp Trek during spring break and my 13-year-old and 16-year-old kids had the best time. We are a busy family with both parents working and believe that taking time out for adventures is an important part of our family values. Hence, we decided to hire a guide for this trip. Our guide, Ram, was amazing from start to finish. We all leaned on Ram from time to time, and that made the experience culturally rich. Not only did we spend time in an amazing environment, but we also learned so much about Nepal, the people, the mountains, and what makes it so special. Although the trek was our most challenging one so far, our family got through it, and we all had tough times at some point. I highly recommend spending time like this with family, and if you want the best from your time, take a guide. If you are considering a guide, you can't go past Ram. Namaste, Ram.

A Perfect Himalayan Adventure with an Amazing Team!
“My journey to the Poon Hill Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Mountain Mart Treks & Expedition was absolutely incredible and beyond my expectations!
From the very beginning, the company handled everything smoothly, making my trip stress-free and enjoyable. The real highlight of this trek was our fantastic guide Ram and the wonderful porters Hira and Bikki.
Ram was an outstanding guide—very experienced, caring, and knowledgeable. He made sure we were always safe, comfortable, and well-informed about the mountains, culture, and local lifestyle. His positive energy kept us motivated every day, especially during the more challenging uphill climbs.
Hira and Bikki were truly amazing. They worked so hard while always staying cheerful and supportive. I have so much respect for their strength and dedication—they really made this journey special.
The trek itself was simply breathtaking. Watching the sunrise from Poon Hill was unforgettable, and reaching Annapurna Base Camp surrounded by majestic Himalayan peaks felt like a dream come true. Every day offered something new—lush forests, charming villages, and stunning mountain views.
Mountain Mart Treks provided excellent service throughout the trip—from accommodations to meals and logistics. I felt safe, well taken care of, and completely immersed in the beauty of Nepal.
I highly recommend Mountain Mart Treks & Expedition to anyone looking for a reliable and professional trekking company in Nepal. I can’t wait to come back for another adventure!
Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

Incredible Experience with an Amazing Guide!
“We were planning to go to Nepal in March for the Poon Hill Annapurna Base Camp Trek, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions we’ve ever made!
Ram was the best trekking guide we could have asked for. He is nice, warm, and very patient. He took great care of us throughout the entire trek and made sure we were always comfortable and safe. He taught us so much about Nepali culture and answered all the questions we had along the way.
Ram knew every mountain peak we saw and always kept us in a good mood, even during the tougher days. He also knew all the best lodges in the mountains and, whenever possible, arranged good bedrooms and bathrooms for us, which made a big difference during the trek.
One special thing we really appreciated—every day after dinner, Ram surprised us with fresh fruit that he carried all the way up the mountains just for us. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and we noticed that other guests didn’t have this experience.
He was truly there for us from beginning to the end, and we felt very lucky to have him as our guide.
We also want to mention our porter Sujan, who was incredibly strong and kind. He carried all our luggage with care and always had a positive attitude.
We would highly recommend Ram to guide you on your trek in Nepal. This experience will stay with us forever!”
Highly recommended with Mountain Mart Treks & Expedition!

I didn’t realise at the time that I’d fallen on my feet! I booked accommodation in Kathmandu with the intent on finding a local guide/trek, only to realise that the owner of the hotel had a trekking business. Within a short while of talking with Dolakh Thapa I secured an 9 days trek to the Poon Hill Annapurna Base Camp. To the positive I was asked various questions on the clothing/equipment I had and naturally I came prepared. However, it dawned on me whilst on the trek of the professionalism of Mountain Mart Treks & Expedition compared to others, as others on guided treks were not dressed appropriately which would be detrimental to their enjoyment e.g. wearing Vans to walk in the snow!…Dolakh runs a trekking business that I consider to be Top Notch! 👍
Furthermore, I had an exceptional guide from start to end with Ram Bhandari. Exceptional knowledge of the Annapurna circuit, always mindful of my welfare as in appropriately hydrated and fuelled with the typical Tea House culinary delights. Ram also has a very nice personal touch in the manner he would present a drink and wipe the cutlery with a tissue prior to presenting to me. All in all, Ram is exceptional and I’d endorse him as your trekking guide 👌

We stayed at the Everest Boutique Hotel in Kathmandu (which we highly recommend), where the MMT travel agency is also located. Dolakh advised us on trekking tours and answered our questions competently. In Pokhara we met our guide Ram, whom we highly recommend. He is a calm, friendly guy who knows the mountains and Nepalese culture very well and took care of everything professionally. He knew how to respond to our needs, which made it very pleasant. Together with him and our porter Takur, we spent four great days hiking in the mountains.

It’s by far our best trip yet and our kids loved it and we also want to say a big thank you to the owner Dollak who was very helpful with all the arrangements when organizing everything that was required to achieve a great trip.
Thanks again to Mountain Mart and especially Yukumar .

I booked a tour for the Poon Hill ABC trek for 9 days. The tour started from Kathmandu. The round trip as well as accommodation in the local lodges including meals were guaranteed and all promises were kept. My guide (Lochan) was helpful at all times, worried about my health and adapted to my pace. I always felt safe and any problem was in good hands with him. The tour was well worth seeing and the organization and the people behind it are warm and recommendable.
The trek was insane! We saw a lot of beautiful landscapes and I will never forget it. Our guide Ram was very nice and very hepful. He knows the mointains like the back of his hand and we trusted him 100%. I recommend this trek to everyone!

I completed the Poon Hill + ABC trek as a solo female trekker, but only with the help of my guide Yukumar. Yukumar is an amazing guide, who is very hardworking, patient, cheerful and knowledgeable in his field. From the minute he picked me up to drop off (and even after), my interests always remained his first and topmost priority. He shared openly and enthusiastically about his life and Nepalese culture and history, and shared fun facts about things we see along the way. Instantly, he felt like family. Throughout the whole trip, he affectionately nicknamed me “Putali” (butterfly), remained cheerful and upbeat, even though it was tiring and hard work. He is well liked at every village we went to, and always managed to find the best accommodation possible for me, and also knew where the best scenic views were. He is easily the best and most accommodating guide out of all of the ones I’ve seen.
Yukumar went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. As I was trekking solo and packed light, I didn’t have a porter and instead, Yukumar carried all my things, on top of his own things and a heavy down sleeping bag for cold nights. He did not hesitate with the heavy load. As my itinerary had changed, I was keen and fit enough to hope to shorten the original itinerary by a day so that I could have more rest towards the end. Yukumar planned a whole new itinerary, constantly encouraged me and we went at a faster pace, which is undoubtedly harder work for him but he was happy to do it as I wanted to. He also settled all my food and drinks, and charging and wifi when I needed it. He did everything!
Halfway through the trip, I unfortunately had food poisoning and remained very sick and weak for a few days. Yukumar took extremely good care of me, letting me rest when I needed to and offering his own medicine. He even carried my day pack for me when I was too weak and slow. Although I wasn’t very fun to be around because I was sick, he remained cheerful and told many jokes, danced and sang (he is a very good singer!). As I was still determined to complete the trek in shortened time, Yukumar was constantly assessing and adjusting the plan, which was a lot of hard mental work. With his good advice on what to have and what to avoid, I slowly recovered and saw the great views at ABC. I cannot be more grateful for how well Yukumar took care of me like his little sister, even when things got tough and tiring. He is very hard working!
Thank you so much Yukumar for being so patient with me and taking such good care of everything for all 8 days such that I did not have to think. I am so happy that I completed this trek despite falling extremely sick. Ma khusi chu!
I highly recommend trekking to ABC with Yukumar, and will be asking for him again if I do the EBC trek.

The trek exceeded our expectations, the views from Poon Hill are truly amazing but nothing compared to the panoramic view one is presented at Annapurna Basecamp.
The trek itself is on an easy to medium scale and not too challenging if one considers oneself to be fit.
Overall we would highly recommend this trek, the views are simply too good to be missed.
Dolakh (who we believe owns and runs Mountain Mart) was extremely responsive throughout the whole booking phase and was very pleasant to deal with in person in Kathmandu. We requested a slight change to the standard itinerary, which Dolakh happily included.
Besides the magnificent views and nature our guide Ram was truly amazing. We are seasoned backpackers and usually make our own way, but spending nine days with Ram changed our perspective in this regards. Ram is one of nicest and honest persons we came across so far. Everything Ram does is done with the right intention and one truly feels that he wants to maximise his client's experience. His constant dedication did not remain unnoticed, many fellow travelers asked us for our tour operator and especially for the name of our guide, which should be testament enough of his character. 10/10 for Ram, an amazing human!

My husband and I just finished the Annapurna Base Camp Trek + Poon Hill which we booked through Mountain Mart.
Firstly, the organisation of the trek went very smoothly and we enjoyed our stay at the new hotel in Kathmandu which belongs to the company (Everest Boutique Hotel, highly recommended).
The trek itself was amazing, I have never seen anything like the landscape and mountains we saw during the trek - just stunning.
I'd like to mention our guide Ram who was definitely a highlight of our trip and without who it would not have been as great. Unfortunately I felt very poorly for the first half of the trip but Ram went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable, adjust the route accordingly and motivate me. Not only is he friendly, polite and funny, but also very knowledgeable about the area and the hike and was always able to organise us great rooms in guesthouses even at the busy high season.
We can highly recommend the company and especially Ram for a trip of a lifetime to the Himalayas and will be back ourselves!

I had the trek of a lifetime. Incredible scenery, great walking, and met a lot of friendly people.
My guide Prem was superb and went above and beyond. To give an example, my iPhone broke and became permanently locked out at 2,900M altitude.
Prem helped me fix it - first by speaking with local people to borrow a laptop and when that failed diverting my solo trip back to Pokhara to get the phone fixed and then brought us back on track so we still could stick to our planned trek.
Prem was helpful, friendly, a good laugh - but also knew when to be quiet and for us to just walk in peace.
Thank you to Prem and to Mountain Mart for the trip of a lifetime
Went on a private trek to Poon Hill and Annapurna Base Camp. What a great service - everything was so well organised. Communication between myself and Dolakh both before and during the trip was excellent.

Excellent professional service from Mountain Mart owner, Dolakh and assigned team; guide Raju and porters Rudra and Prakash. Mountain Mart website was comprehensive and well designed with detailed Everyday itinerary. Dolakh was Super fast in addressing questions and concerns. On the trail, Raju managed our expectations really well, briefing us what to expect on the weather and trek the next day, and how to dress. More importantly, they monitored our health throughout the 10 days of trek making sure we did not hv signs of altitude sickness with the oxymeter, and checking with us on how we felt on the trek. Having a guide and 2 porters for the 3 of us was ideal. We had one to one company at our pace throughout the trek.
All in an excellent experience and I would hesitate to recommend Mountain Mart and their excellent guides and porters.

9 day trek inclusive of Poon Hill and ABC for 3 Pax in their 50s. Pre trip communication was excellent with responsive replys from MMT’s Dolakh ranging from potable water to what to expect on the trek. The assigned guide Raju was thoroughly professional and provided direction and leadership to cheerful and hardworking porters Rudra and Prakash. Guide Raju organised rest breaks and lunches, and ensured that the night rest accommodations were to the best standards. Hot water for bathing, clean sheets and comforters, and meals orders including delightful fruit platter were expediently provided for. Guide Raju provided after dinner briefings on what to expect on the trek the next day and ensured that we were clothed right, made sure we had sufficient potable water and even tested our blood oxygen levels, and enquired on our general health and well being. That all said, my trek with my fellow companions turned out to be excellent and a wonderful experience. Guide Raju, porters Rudra and Prakash shared their knowledge of the Annapurna mountains and local culture along the way. Guide Raju singing folk songs along the way was delightful and made the trekking distances much shorter. The teams smiles and encouragement constantly buoyed our spirits. Dolakh was also quick to arrange the flight back to Katmandu as the 6-8 hour bus ride might be too arduous after our trek. The MMT team was excellent and I highly recommend Guide Raju for his spirit, care and leadership of our cheerful and hardworking porters Rudra and Prakash. Thank you MMT Dolakh for making our Annapurna trekking experience a terrific lifetime experience and achievement. Cheers!
We did a 9-day ABC trek thru Mountain Mart. Mr Dolakh was extremely experience n gave us good info abt the trek. Our guide, Raju, was juz magnificent. He was v experience, knowledgeable n organised our trek v well. He made sure tat our lodging n food was good n we r comfortable thru-out the trek. He even ensured tat we r able to get hot showers daily. Most impt, he ensured everyone of us is safe thru-out. I was the slowest in the group n he accompanied me all the way. I left my power bank at one of the guest house and he went back to collect for me. The to/fro to collect the power bank took 1.5 hrs. The porters, Rutdra n Prakas were also v hard working n courteous. I definitely put a 5-star service for Raju’s performance n leadership. A truly wonderful guide to have. He also have good knowledge abt many subjects n I learned much abt Nepal thru him. Highly recommend to use Mountain Mart n Raju n team as guide n porters for treks.

We originally planned to for EBC but could not proceed as the Lukla airport was closed for several days.
After several attempts, we decided to go to ABC. Dolakh was swift and accommodating of the change request. He also ensured all logistics for the EBC attempts and ABC trip were arranged properly.
Very special call out to our trek guide, Makar Tamang. He was courteous, knowledgeable, very helpful, and became a good friend along the trek. Even our porter, Roopesh, became close and a friend to us by the end of the trip. This experience has indeed become more special and logistically seamless because of them.
Thanks for all at Mountain Mark for a great ABC experience. Looking forward to EBC in the future!
We are 2 people and did a 7-day trek: Poon Hill + ABC (Annapurna Base Camp), with 9 full days in Nepal in total (1 day Kathmandu-Pokhara, 7 days trekking, 1 day Pokhara-Kathmandu).
We liked the itinerary; ABC is a highlight. Difficulty: medium, some days are long.
We recommend having a guide and a porter, it makes everything easier (especially if you are short on time).
Mountain Mart Trek & Expedition was great (especially our guide Nabin). Good sleeping bags and trekking poles were provided.
Thank you for everything!

Found Mountain Mart through this tripadvisor forum and I must say the reviews were super helpful, the actual experience was in fact far better than we expected! We had a fantastic time with our guide Bishal and porters mongol + sheetal. The three of them took super good care of us, always trying to arrange the best accommodation in the tea houses and making sure we ate well (daily snacks on the trek, biscuits for tea when we finished, an amazing large fruit platter after lunch and dinner - we were so pampered!). Every night, Bishal would brief us through for the next day, and record our pulse/oxygen levels to ensure we are in good condition. He's so sweet and patient with us and we really love how earnest he was! It was our first time trekking and so we went a bit slower, taking lots of photos along the way too. He wouldn't rush us and would patiently go with our pace while ensuring we're still on track. 2 of my friends had a bit of headache at base camp, and he helped to fill our hot water and gave them garlic soup to help ease the aches. Even though my friend missed the sunrise views because she was unwell, he made sure she didn't come all the way up for nothing and quickly brought her for a quick walk to check out the ABC views before we left. That was quite thoughtful. On the route back, he offered to help with her daypack so she can ascend the steep steps at a more comfortable pace. Bishal may be more reserved at first but we really enjoyed our conversations with him, especially when you ask about his hometown and personal experiences. Would love to have him as our guide again if we come back next time! Also Dolakh the managing director is very welcoming. We met him at the office before the trek and he gave us a thorough briefing. He's also super responsive via Whatsapp and would try his best to answer any of your questions before the trip began. All in all, Mountain Mart is a great agency and I would highly recommend them!

The nine-day ABC (10/29-11/5/2018) tour ends with a quick and somewhat relentless schedule. Guide Makar led two pickers (Lupes and Dawa) who served us well, especially Makar, patient and knowledgeable about mountain views, tirelessly telling us the names of mountains, pointing maps, explaining our itinerary and making reasonable adjustments. Especially on my fourth day, I had a worsening cold, my strength dropped, and I had to fall behind at the end, while Makar waited patiently, with me around, encouraging me from time to time to help me overcome my difficulties, eight hours of hiking, nearly 15 kilometres, and climbing more than 1,000 metres), which was very difficult. Every time we arrive at the inn, Makar is sure to bring hot tea first, help with ordering and arranging accommodation, all in great detail and with care. We're arriving at ABC tomorrow and it's an experience of a lifetime! Makar is highly recommended as your guide!
We were met at the airport in Kathmandu and taken to our hotel . Everything was on time , efficient and done with professionalism.
Our trek was led by our guide ram , who took amazing care of us . He patiently answered our questions, cared for our needs , looked out for each member in our 8 person group and each night measured checked our oxygen with an oxygen meter which was very helpful as we went higher .
I can highly recommend mountain mart and their outstanding staff and service !! We had an incredible trip !!

Already during the booking phase we had a lot of help from Dolakh who was always at hand to answer any questions we had. Once booked the excellent help continued and even though one of our trek members had to cancel last minute due to back injury there were no problems with replanning the itinerary. Once we arrived in Kathmandu we met with Dolakh who set us up for the trip in a great way. We left for Pokhara the next day and met up with our guide Nabin and our two porters Ganesh and Sujan. They instantly made us feel welcome and we set of for our trek. Nabin was a fountain of knowledge and always happy to assist us with anything we needed. My 67-year old father who was with us on the trip got so well taken care of by the guys we couldn’t have asked fo more and that gave us the best start we could imagine. The trek itself was amazing, great weather, awesome views and the best team to take care of us. The last day up to ABC was hard work but it really did pay off when we got up early the next day to see the sunrise on the Annapurna range, it was a moment we will always remember.
I can’t imagine there is anyone better suited as a guide than Nabin with his wealth of knowledge and eagerness to help combined with a great sense of humour. Sujan was always glad to teach us new Nepalese card games and Ganesh was our own Nepalese Ninja - light footed climbing up mountains always with a smile on his face making sure we were all enjoying ourselves. We could not have been better taken care of and next time we go to Nepal we sure know who to book with and which guide and porters to ask for! 5 star all around!

I recently completed the 10-day Annapurna Sanctuary trek, including Annapurna Base Camp with guide Ram from Mountain Mart, and I can’t recommend him and the company enough! This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, highlighted by breathtaking views and a fantastic guide.
From start to finish, our experience was seamless. Ram and Mounain Mart took great care of us from the moment we arrived in Kathmandu. We first stayed in the Everest Boutique Hotel in KTM which was beautiful and then the Lakeside Resort in Pokhara - all organised seamlessly by Mountain Mart.
Ram was exceptional—professional, passionate, and incredibly attentive. His extensive knowledge of Nepal and its culture made our journey up to ABC even more enriching.
As a group of three women, we felt completely safe with Ram. He was not only honest and kind, but also incredibly perceptive, always reading our energy levels on the trail. He ensured we were well-rested and well-fed, making sure we had the strength to tackle each day's challenges. He always went above and beyond (especially when making us the most beautiful fresh fruit platters every evening and providing us with chocolate and tea whenever our energy levels were low!).
Despite trekking during one of the busiest times, we always had private rooms and, whenever possible, private bathrooms. I noticed many other trekkers struggling with their tea house bookings, but Ram's experience ensured we had a smooth journey.
I would also like to mention our two porters, Kumar and Chitra. They not only carried our bags the whole way, but were always waiting for us when we arrived to give us a high five!
Ram kept our spirits high along the trail with engaging stories about his life and the beauty of the mountains around us. His rapport with local people and fellow guides highlighted the respect he commands in the region.
I wholeheartedly recommend Ram (Mountain Mart) as a guide for any trek in Nepal. We can’t wait to return and explore more with Ram leading the way!

10 day trek inclusive of Poon Hill and ABC for 3 Pax in their 50s. Cheers!

after enjoying delicate breakfast at hotel, we fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara: the city of lakes. After 25 minutes of flight, we land at Pokhara from where we hire private jeep and drive through the dusty and off-road to Ghandruk via Nayapul. The drive today will be exhausted or monotonous to some trekkers due to bumpy drive; but the scenic scenery of green rolling hills, dense forest, rivers and pleasant environment fuel the happiness and excitement.
In the early morning, we hike through dense forest to the magnificent view-point: Poon Hill. From Ghorepani, the trail further ascends to Tadapani along the ridges through dense rhododendron and Oak forest. After 5-6 hours of trek from Ghorepani, we finally reach at Tadapani: our today’s destination.
From Tadapani, the trail descends to Kimrong Khola tracing the dense forest and terraced farmland; cross suspension bridge over Kimrong Khola and climb steep up to Chhomrong Pass enjoying the panoramic picturesque. Crossing the pass, we follow the ridge and walk for few hours through uphill downhill and flat trails until we reach at the beautiful Chhomrong village on the lap of Mt. Annapurna. The village is the largest human settlement where trekkers can get all the amenities and sophisticated accommodation facility. Overnight, stay at Chhomrong.
From Sinuwa, the trail descends to another village Bamboo and then ascends to Dovan through the dense bamboo, rhododendron and Oak forest from where we walk through the Modi Khola Valley and reach at Himalaya hotel. The village is the vantage place which offers the perfect view of Mt. fishtail. Overnight, stay at Himalaya hotel.
Today, we trek to ABC from Himalaya hotel. At first, the trail inclines for about half an hour to Hinku Cave from where we descend down, cross the Modi Khola stream and reach Deurali. The trail from Deurali to MBC is uphill-downhill and straight; but in some places there is high risk of avalanche. From Deurali, walk carefully through the pastureland and boulders along the Modi Khola, cross a small bridge and climb to MBC. From MBC, the trail climbs up to ABC witnessing the 360-degree sensational view of numerous snow-clad peaks including Annapurna III, Machhapuchre, Gangapurna, Gandharva Chuli, Annapurna south, etc. After 1-2 hours of climb from MBC, we reach at ABC (4,130m on the lap of Mt. Annapurna (8,091m/26,554ft). Overnight, stay at Annapurna Base Camp.
We wake up early in the morning and get ready for the sensational view of sunrise over Mt. Annapurna. Today is the most exquisite day of the trek as we perceive the stupendous 360° view of Annapurna massif and other sparkling peaks including Machhapuchre, Gangapurna, Gandharva Chuli,. After enjoying the mesmerizing moment at ABC, take delightful breakfast and trek down to Bamboo retracing the previous trodden trails. From Bamboo, we walk through dense forest for couple of hours and reach at Sinuwa for tonight’s shelter.
After early morning breakfast, we descend down to Chhomrong through dense forest and staircase; cross suspension bridge over Chhomrong Khola and again climb steep stone staircase. The trail from Chhomrong drops down to Nayapul; and finally, we drive back to Pokhara. Overnight, stay at Pokhara.
We enjoy our delicate breakfast at Pokhara and drive back to Kathmandu in a comfortable tourist bus enjoying the green rolling hills, surging rivers and silver mountain peaks. After 6-7 hours of drive, we reach at Kathmandu in daytime. Transfer to the hotel, be fresh, take some rest and explore Kathmandu in the evening time. Final say: Poon Hill Annapurna 9 days Trek demands more physical stamina than Poon Hill Trek. The trekkers need to walk for 8-10 hours per day; so if you have prior experience or physical training then the trek could be easier for you. Poon Hill Annapurna Trek is doable in any seasons; yet if you want to enjoy the astonishing scenery and snow-clad mountains, better trek in spring and autumn seasons when climate is fine and sky is crystal. The Poon Hill Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek is one of Nepal’s most iconic short-to-moderate Himalayan adventures. Located in the heart of the Annapurna region, this trek combines the classic sunrise experience at Poon Hill (3,210m) with a journey to the stunning Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m), offering panoramic views of Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, and Hiunchuli.
Perfect for beginners, families, photographers, and adventure seekers, this trek offers a unique mix of Himalayan beauty, cultural immersion, and moderate trekking challenges. Although considered safe and accessible, proper preparation, travel insurance, and knowledge of rescue procedures are essential for a secure and stress-free journey.
Even though this trek stays mostly below 4,500 meters, comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended to protect against unexpected events such as illness, accidents, or evacuation.
Your insurance should ideally cover:
✔️ Trekking coverage up to 5,000m (to include ABC)
✔️ Emergency rescue and helicopter evacuation if required
✔️ Medical treatment and hospitalization
✔️ Trip cancellation or interruption
✔️ Accidental injury and repatriation
✔️ Lost, stolen, or delayed baggage
💡 Tip: Helicopter evacuations are rare but insurance ensures financial protection and peace of mind in case of serious medical emergencies.
The trek passes through villages and teahouses at Nayapul, Ulleri, Ghorepani, Tadapani, Chomrong, Bamboo, Deurali, Machhapuchhre Base Camp, and Annapurna Base Camp. Basic health posts are available in some villages, but serious emergencies may require evacuation to Pokhara or Kathmandu.
Emergency Procedure:
1️⃣ Notify your trekking guide immediately.
2️⃣ Guide contacts local rescue teams and your insurance provider.
3️⃣ Evacuation arranged via jeep or helicopter (weather dependent).
4️⃣ Transfer to a hospital in Pokhara or Kathmandu for advanced treatment.
Nepal’s Annapurna region has experienced and reliable rescue teams, ensuring timely support when required.
Although the Poon Hill ABC Trek is manageable, risks include:
✔️ Rapid weather changes in the Annapurna region
✔️ Slippery trails and stone staircases during monsoon or winter
✔️ Limited medical facilities in remote villages
✔️ Physically demanding early morning hike to Poon Hill
✔️ Long trekking days with gradual altitude gain
Comprehensive travel insurance provides safety, financial protection, and peace of mind throughout the trek.
Trekkers must secure official permits for legal and safe trekking in the Annapurna region:
1️⃣ Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)
Cost: USD 30 per foreign trekker
Grants legal access and supports environmental and community conservation
2️⃣ TIMS Card (Trekkers’ Information Management System)
Cost: USD 10 per organized trekker
Registers trekkers for safety tracking and emergency response
Permit Tips:
✔️ Arrange permits via licensed trekking agencies for convenience
✔️ Carry passport copies and passport-size photos
✔️ Keep permits in a waterproof pouch
✔️ Present original permits at checkpoints
✔️ Maintain digital backups
✔️ Carry printed and digital copies of insurance and permits
✔️ Wear trekking boots with strong grip for uneven stone trails
✔️ Use trekking poles for stability on steep sections
✔️ Stay hydrated and eat nutritious meals
✔️ Maintain a steady pace and rest when needed
