Situated 40 km just the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu valley is the hilltop village of Namo Buddha. The Namo Buddha Day tour takes you to the Buddhist pilgrimage site which is situated at the hilltop of Panauti in Kavre District. The main attraction of this tour at Namo Buddha is the Thrangu Tashi Yangtse monastery. Young monks studying here are also part of this monastery. Hiking to Namo Buddha is an easy one and ideal for those who strive to walk for at least few hours.
History has it that the once a price name Mahasttva offered oneself to hungry tigress who could not feed several of its cubs. A stone tablet has been there, which is said to mark the place where this history event took place. A festival is held in this place during November.
The tour starts with a 1.5 hour drive to Dhapasi through the village of Panauti. We will then start an easy hike through several small villages and paddy fields. We will encounter local villagers’ engagged in their daily life of cultivating in the fields. The hike is a 1 hour uphill walk to reach the wonderful stupa of Namo Buddha. After lunch we hike back to our starting point. We will drive back to Kathmandu to end our Namo Buddha Day Tour.
