This was a Romsey Climbers (RoCs) club (UK based climbing and mountaineering club) trip to Nepal in April 2022 to climb Mera Peak. The trip was originally scheduled for April 2020 but due to the COVID pandemic was postponed twice until it eventually took place in April 2022. MMT&E had been recommended by a club member who had used them several times before and sang their praises highly.
Summary: Mountain Mart Treks provided a first-class, very professional and flexible service. I would have absolutely no hesitation using them again (which I hope to do) or recommending them very highly to anyone who would like to trek or climb in Nepal.
I base this assessment on a number of factors (there are more, but these are the main ones), not necessarily in order of importance.
Great communications. Very rapid responses to all enquiries including the need to delay the trip due to COVID restriction. Communications (email) with MMT were always responded to very quickly which was reassuring given the situation and my total ignorance of trekking in Nepal.
An inclusive package that removed all of the risks involved in organising a trek in an unknown country. The package covered all expenses (apart from a couple of meals in Kathmandu), permits and passes. This was a major benefit as all we had to focus on was the trek, the climb and the fantastic scenery. Some other teams we met on the way had to work out the costing for each stay which looked a little messy.
A first-class support team. Trekking Guide (Lochan), Climbing Guide (Pemba) and Porter (Dawa) were incredibly supportive and I would certainly like to use them again for any future trip to Nepal if they were available. On occasions I found the trek physically demanding, and certainly the trek up the glacier and then on summit day were full-on. I never felt pressured to go faster than I could manage (which on some occasions was not that fast!) and felt that my limitations were always taken into account.
Flexibility. During the trek to Mera Peak the itinerary was tuned to match our level of acclimatisation and performance (e.g., an extra day in Khare but then missing out Mera Base Camp and ascending directly to Mera High Camp). When we returned to Lukla we were facing nearly a week in Kathmandu before our flight home (due to cancellations and changes to flight times by our long-haul flight provider, nothing to do with MMT&T). Lochan suggested an excursion to Namche Bazar which we readily took up. This added what was effectively a second mini trek into the schedule and provided a fascinating comparison with the Mera Peak experience. Highly recommended if you have time on your hands!
Perhaps, far more to the point, it was a very enjoyable trip that mixed a lot of hard work and hard breathing with laughter, amazing scenery and wonder at the incredible Nepalese environment, all made possible by Dolakh and the MMT&T team.

I have just returned from Mera Peak on a trip originally scheduled for April 2020, but rearranged several times due to the pandemic. Firstly I should say that Mountain Mart were very flexible with the rearrangement, allowing us to postpone repeatedly until a time when reduced restrictions allowed the trip to go ahead. Throughout this period they were always very quick to respond to any emails (always well within 24 hours, but usually almost immediate). This was very reassuring during the uncertain times.
From arrival in Kathmandu, Mountain Mart took care of almost everything. We were collected from the airport and taken to a very nice hotel where we had a couple of days to relax and explore Thamel before the trek itself. Internal flights to Lukla and transport to and from the airport were also already arranged and included in the overall cost of the trek.
The trek itself was an incredible experience. Neither my friend or I had ever been to Nepal before, and neither of us had any real experience of that sort of altitude (although both have UK winter climbing experience). Our trekking guide (Lochan), climbing guide (Pemba) and porter (Dawa) very quickly did a very good job of assessing our abilities, and the trek was set to our pace. Within our itinery there was flexibility to allow juggling around rest/acclimatisation days to suit our pace and give us the best chance of making the summit. It was very hard work at times, particularly the long day up to High Camp (we missed out Base Camp) and the summit day itself, but absolutely stunning. We had a perfect summit day with incredible views in all directions, including to Everest.
Our accommodation for most of the trek was a mixture of tea houses and lodges (and one night in a tent at High Camp), and it felt like we were getting the best available. We were very well fed with really good choice at all meal times (including dessert!), and there was no shortage of tea (all covered in the cost of the trek, which kept things hassle free).
Our team of Lochan, Pemba and Dawa were excellent throughout. All were clearly very experienced, very good at judging our needs and assessing our abilities, and really good fun people to share the experience with. It was their expertise that got us to the summit and back safely, and I wouldn't hesitate to team up with them again on the next adventure.
Due to our flight scheduling we had time left at the end of the trek to tag on a few days on the Everest Base Camp route (from Lukla up to Namche Bazar and back). This was all arranged at short notice by Mountain Mart, again with very good accommodation and food, and the good company of Lochan and Dawa.
I fully intend to use Mountain Mart again in the (hopefully not to distant) future - just need to decide what to do next!

Recently, I had the pleasure of completing the Annapurna Sanctuary trek with my friends. This was quite daunting as it was the first time I had travelled outside of Europe and my first proper trek. Despite these concerns, the trip was a success, and I can owe that completely to the team at Mountain Mart Treks.
Throughout, the company worked hard to ensure the trip was easy and enjoyable for us all, covering travel as well as a tour around Kathmandu and booking brilliant accommodation. The owner of the company, Dholak, also made sure to meet us personally and taking us through every step of the trek and answering any questions we had. A notable example of the lengths Mountain Mart Treks went to help us along the way, is that when two members of my group were having issues with obtaining an Indian Visa, Mountain Mart Treks changed the time of our flight to Pokhara so that they could attend an interview.
The trek was an incredible, once in a lifetime experience. It offered amazing views, delicious food, an insight into a unique culture and a great sense of accomplishment. Despite being difficult at parts, every day was enjoyable and achievable. This ease and enjoyment can be entirely credited to our porters Sujan, Chitra and Thakur (who worked extremely hard and carried the main bulk of our bags the entire trip - around 30-40kg), and especially our guide Ram Bhandari.
Ram has been an exceptional guide, doing everything he could to make our trip enjoyable. Throughout the day, Ram would provide ample rest, resupply water and keep us motivated (thanks to his never-ending supply of chocolate!). Any questions we had on life in the mountains he would answer and offer personal anecdotes to give a nuanced picture of Nepalese life and culture. My favourites being teaching us the meaning of the different mountain names or showing us some of the tasty wild berries available on the various paths. Ram would also offer advice on the best food to have and often head into the kitchen himself to cook some of the best Momo and curries our group had ever had. Even after we had finished tea Ram would offer us fresh fruit, such as bananas, apples, pomegranates and oranges which were all displayed in incredible patterns - another example of the care Ram put into helping us through our trip. Ram made sure we were well fed before starting his own meal. This was a common trend throughout the whole trip, Ram always puts his guests first.
The accommodation along the route was also fantastic. Ram always ensured that the views from the hostels were incredible, offering alternative places to stay if the views there were better. These changes were always discussed as a group beforehand with Ram always making it clear what we would be doing the next day. This included the changes in plans, but it also included wake up times so that we could watch the sunrise as well as planning the timings of lunch and chocolate breaks.
Overall, this trip has been perfect, and I will always remember my time in Nepal fondly. It has been the best holiday I have ever taken, and I seriously recommend others to visit Nepal and embark on a trek. You will not regret it. Of course, if you are to embark on a trek, make sure to use Mountain Mart Treks, and especially ask for Ram Bhandari, he will not fail to make your trip an unforgettable one.

We did the 3 passes trek with Mountain mart. It was one of the most spectacularly scenic trips with great views of Everest and some of the wonders of the Himalayas. Our guide Makar really made the trip with lots of really helpful information and we didn’t stop laughing from start to finish. The porters Bisal and Pasang were great fun too. I would highly recommend them to anyone thinking of trekking in Nepal!
Thanks guys

It is hard to express in words what an amazing trip I had, breath taking scenery, deep soul searching and new friends. Our guide Makar really made the trip special and I hope to do another trip with him one day, anyone considering this trip I recommend using MMT as the porters are super hero’s who make you life so easy all you have time to do is enjoy yourself and laugh.
Massive thank you MMT and special thanks to Makar, bishal and pasang for making it the trip of a life time.

A friend booked the trip so I can’t speak to the ease of booking and working through Mountain Mart but upon arrival they were organized and easy to work with. We did a 10 day rapid ascent to Everest Base Camp and the trip was well organized but also offered us flexibility if we were struggling with the altitude which was a relief, not knowing how well we’d do. The trek was amazing, I loved it but what really made it one to remember was the people.
I have nothing but a grand review, for our guide Yukumar and our porter Kamal. Kumar went above and beyond every step of the way and paid attention to every detail of our comfort, not to mention he was good company to have beside you on the trail or in the Tea Houses. He is incredibly knowledgeable of the mountains, terrain, villages, and Nepali culture. I learned a lot from Kumar during the trek and his constant support helped me get through a rapid trek. Through my first experience with altitude sickness to holding my hand down an icy Kala Patthar, Kumar was a constant. Kamal was also a constant smiling face and helping hand. While Kumar was helping me down Kala Patthar, Kamal was assisting my trekking partner down.
I have nothing but good things to say about my experience and what a joy it was to trek with Kumar and Kamal. I missed them as soon as I left and I can’t wait to plan another trek. When returning to Nepal, I will explicitly seek these two to be by my side.

A trip to Everest Base Camp is obviously a bucket list experience for most people. The thought of placing your blind faith in a company to ensure safety and comfort is extremely overwhelming, and no matter how many reviews read, or research conducted – it is still overwhelming. I selected Mountain Mart based on the positive reviews and ethical standing of the company. Still – reviews only do so much and can often be deceiving. I’ve worked with numerous tour companies before – ranging from God awful to excellent – and I will attest to having a top notch experience with Mountain Mart from the get-go.
From the onset – Dolakh was extremely responsive and straightforward. I never had to worry about badgering him for a response, and he truly seemed vested in the experience I would have as opposed to just seeking financial compensation. I had a friend join the trek a little late in the game, and Dolakh made this transition seamless. Additionally, he understood the concerns our party had regarding the high altitude and the rapid ascent. He ensured 100% flexibility in our journey in the event of illness. I appreciated that he was vested in our experience and wanted us to make the most of this experience after traveling across the world.
After physically arriving in Kathmandu – I have nothing but glowing remarks to say about the entire experience. This is especially a leap of faith since you are trusting your life to strangers and spending the next ten days together. Our guide Yukumar greeted us at the hotel and clearly set the expectations. The morning of departure, he navigated us through the complex domestic terminal at KTM airport and ensured we were on the first flight to Lukla. Once we arrived in Lukla, our porter Kamal joined the trek. Simply put – these two were rockstars and literally worked tirelessly to ensure we would have an amazing journey (the delicious cut fruit dessert platter each night – no other groups had anything close). I expected the company to look out for our physical wellbeing, but I did not expect Kumar to provide such a cultural insight into his country and help foster our love for Nepal. From literally knowing anything you could ask about the numerous peaks in the Himalayan range (seriously every altitude), to teaching us local customs, and even some Nepali (dhanyabād) – it was his knowledge and enthusiasm that reflected so positively for the beautiful nation he represented.
Trekking at such high altitudes definitely involves risks – with altitude sickness being one of them. Unfortunately, my friend did begin to feel the effects of this. There was not a single moment Kumar didn’t put his genuine heart forward to ensure my friend was safe and comfortable. He continually helped her through some difficult times, and reassured both of us on the enormous feat we conquered. I am a typically stubborn trekker and refuse to ask for help. After an extremely long and icy ascent up Kala Patthar – I didn’t recognize the difficulty of getting back down in dangerous conditions. Our porter, Kamal, hiked right up the mountain to assist me getting down. I would have never asked for help, but I’m thankful the company had the foresight to know this was an extremely dangerous situation and our welfare was most important. I managed this icy descent unscathed thanks to Kamal.
I truly believe the most captivating aspect of this trek was that we became family. I remember sitting at the tea house during the last night in Lukla generally sad that this trek was over. Kumar and Kamal had become important parts of our lives during a lifetime adventure we’d never forget. As accomplished as we felt completing the trek, it was sad knowing we would ultimately leave our two new friends at the end. Nepal is a country that isn’t just worth a visit, but worth a repeat visit(s). I’ve traveled fairly extensively and know I will be back, and Mountain Mart will be part of it. My only advice is this is an extreme journey that will tax you mentally and physically – be sure you have the right company to lead you through this. I could not be more pleased with Mountain Mart and our guide Kumar, and our porter Kamal.

My father, friend and I wanted to do the Gokyo/ Everest Base Camp trek. Mountain Mart Trekking was a company that a colleague had recommended, so I decided to try them. From the moment I reached out to the company, to the moment we were leaving Nepal, Mountain Mart supported us 110%. Dolakh (Owner) was in constant contact with us and he was able to rearrange our itinerary several times due to changes in weather and travel plans. Dolakh made sure that everything was seamless and hassle free. We were even able to book a quick trip to Chitwan last minute, through Dolakh. I couldn't believe how quickly he was able to put things together for us. I also can't compliment our guide, Bhoj, enough for his amazing service. Bhoj made the whole trek experience so much fun and so informative. He constantly went out of his way to make sure we had the best lodges, best food, and best deals at the local markets. He stayed up late several times arranging a helicopter transport (We decided to cut a few days off after we reached base camp), as well as transport out of Lukla when weather prevented the regular flights from coming in and out. Bhoj was constantly upbeat and happy. He made sure we stayed motivated and healthy. I felt like he truly cared about our experience, and he took great pride in his profession as a guide. We ran into many other groups on the trek who did not have the same service from their guides. Lastly, we had excellent porters (arranged by Mountain Mart). Our porters were treated excellent by the company, and we had the chance to interact with them many times. The best part is that Mountain Mart is a local company! It is based in Nepal, so you are contributing to the Nepalese economy, instead of some foreign tour agency. I can't say thank you enough to Dolakh, Bhoj, and the rest of the team for making our trip to Nepal so amazing! I would 10/10 recommend this company to anyone who wants the best possible people on your side, while trekking/touring in Nepal.

I didn't know what to expect from Mountain Mart Treks, as I booked at the last moment, but I was more than pleasantly surprised from their service from the moment I stepped out of the airport, to the moment I boarded my plane. I was met by my guide at the airport, with whom I was to spend the next two weeks trekking. The Kathmandu accommodation was very decent, central, and real 3-stars. What I didn't realize that over the next two weeks, I didn't simply receive a mountain guide (Ram Bhandari), but something like a personal assistant, competent advisor, and a friend, all in one. In comparison to other guides that I saw on the trek, Ram was much more energetic, willing to do 'acclimatization' treks, which proved to be key for acclimatization process; always be on time, whenever he is needed; even cooked for me a couple of times, when the lodge's cooks were not available. As in any company, the best asset are it's employees, so in Mountain Mart's case, I can say that people like Ram, really make for a great company. The company's owner was personally and actively involved in ensuring the quality and the best service to be provided, actively seeking feedback. One thing that is good to keep in mind on these treks is that the lodges and hotels up there function a bit like low-cost

I thoroughly recommend Mountain Mart Treks. We have just returned from Bhandar to Gokyo Lakes. Our 2nd trek with them. The owner Dolakh is very accommodating and easy to deal with. Our guide Nabin is extremely helpful and caring especially when our daughter was sick. Our porters Bhola and Padam are so strong and always smiling. They carried our bags over mountains that we could barely drag ourselves over. We couldn't have done it without all these amazing people. Looking forward to the next trek with them.

Gokyo / Everest Base Camp Trek. I just want to say what a wonderful experience we had while trekking to Everest base camp this June 2022. Mountain Mart made the process simple, cost effective, efficient and fun. The service provided by Dolakh the owner was exceptional! Mountain Mart is a locally owned company which made the experience even better knowing that the money we spent stayed in Nepal. Mountain Mart made us feel more like friends than clients. I cannot say enough about the guide and porters who made the trek possible. Three of us went on the adventure, my son and his friend and it simply would not have been possible without out their help. In particular, our guide Bhoj Kumar Tamang, without him the trek wouldn't have been nearly as awesome. When we first met Bhoj it was like running into an old friend. You could tell he was not just doing his job but that he wanted to ensure your experience would be the best it could be. It was hard not to be infected by his enthusiasm for the area. Bhoj provide great guiding but he was like a trekking concierge as well. Hotels, food, flights, whatever the need Bhoj could make it happen . I am sure he knew everyone in Nepal. We met many on the trail whos guides did not provide like services and you could tell that their experience was less for it. I cannot recommend Mountain Mart Trekking of Nepal enough. If you are going make sure you use their service and make certain you ask for Bhoj as your guide. You will not regret it.

We did a trek to Gokyo and EBC in a private 3 person group. The experience was amazing! From our arrival in Kathmandu everything was taken care of. Flights to Lukla are very weather dependent, so I'd recommend having a few days of leeway. Once we arrived, Bhoj, our guide went above and beyond to arrange everything, often staying up to plan around weather, messaging tea houses to ensure rooms were booked, or arranging transportation when plans changed. 100% recommended - especially to see Gokyo, which in the early morning looks spectacular!

We organized the trekking with Mountain Mart very last minute, but this was not a problem. We did a 10 day trekking around the Annapurna circuit and Tilicho lake with our guide Bhoj. Bhoj was very helpful and flexible. He gave us better insight in the local culture and ways, helped us out were needed and it was no problem to make a change of plans during the trip. Moreover Bhoj was very friendly and funny, we had great conversations and a lot of fun playing cards at the teahouses. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend Mountain Mart!

Let’s start with that we had an absolute blast of a time in the Himalayas with our guide Bhoj! We did the Annapurna circuit and added little de-tour to the Tilicho lake. At first we wanted to go on our own, however with our guide we learned a lot about the culture and could connect with the local ways. Also we would have missed quite some little details if we would have gone without our guide. Bhoj was very helpful, funny and great to have around. If we return to the Himalayas we would definitely contact our new friend at mountain Mart to arrange a new adventure!

My fiancé and I did a brilliant 4 day trek (1 day for travel) to the top of Poon Hill. Whilst we weren’t lucky enough to have blue skies on the trek for the best view, it was an incredible experience. Just ensure you visit in Feb/March or mid Oct - early Dec if you want to increase your odds of getting the best views!
We had a brilliant porter and a 10/10 guide in Yukumar. Always looking to be as helpful as possible and going the extra mile on many occasions.
The company is now based in the Everest Boutique hotel - we stayed here in our first night. I’d highly recommend spending the rest of your time in Kathmandu here. So friendly, lovely rooms and an amazing view fro the roof over dinner (their fried MoMos are amazing!).

My partner and I did the 5 day Poon Hill trek. I’ve been lucky enough to visit Nepal before and the second trip with Mountain Mart did not disappoint. We were there in September, so still a little rainy, but the views we’re still incredible. So much vibrant greenery throughout the forests and the most beautiful waterfalls too. We saw a small peak of the mountains at the top of Poon Hill too.
Our guide was Yukumar, who was so helpful and supportive during our time away. The whole trip was so well planned - if we needed a pick-me-up or any breaks to soak in the views, then Yukumar made sure we were able to. It felt really bespoke and we were very well looked after.
We’ll be back to Nepal for sure and wouldn’t hesitate to book another trek with Mountain Mart & Yukumar.
Thank you!!

I got to know about Mountain Mart while staying at the hotel run by the same owner (Everest Boutique Hotel, which was also an excellent experience!).
Mr Dolakh, the owner, is super friendly and was extremely helpful during my three weeks in Nepal. I ended up staying at his hotel every time I was in Kathmandu and did two major treks with Mountain Mart over two weeks! He even provided very valueable suggestions to optimize my itinerary!
We first did the Chisapani-Nagarkot-Bhaktapur hike over 3 days and that experience was absolutely fantastic! That made me go for a longer trek with them again, this time to Langtang Valley!
I had Sudip as the guide for both the treks, and I can't recommend him enough! He is experienced and knew the localities and the people of the places very well! He is super courteous and provided top-rated hospitality and services over the course of the two weeks we trekked together! He is also very friendly and cheerful, and we had great conversations and banters together! He planned the trips very well, and always kept my preferences in mind! Would throughly recommend him!
Overall, couple of great experiences with Mountain Mart, and I hope to do more again with them soon!

I had a fantastic experience with these guys. If any prospective clients have concerns about dealing directly with a Nepali Company, then let me assure you that these guys are honest operators and 100% on the level. Our experience in Kathmandu with Dolakh (owner/operator) was great with good communications before, and throughout our trip. Once we were on our mountain trek (Everest 3 High Passes) our Guide "Bhoj" was totally expert in his knowledge of the terrain & conditions, and his attention to us and our needs along the trail was utterly exemplary. For example;
- as we progressed along the trail things changed and Bhoj seamlessly adapted....changing accomodation arrangements to suit our rate of progress.
- in our accomodation, Bhoj ensured that everything was streamlined for us...we literally did not have to worry about a thing.
- his sensitivity to our own physical conditiin and abilities was helpful....and he seemed to know when to encourage and when to take a break.
In short, I have had a fantastic time. Book with confidence, you won't regret it.

Five of us just returned from a 7-day Langtang Trek. Our guide, Makar, was awesome! He took good care of us through the entire experience. Mountain Mart does all of the planning and arrangements and includes some very nice extras to their packages. Mountain Mart is by far the best company to use for a trek in Nepal. Before and after our trek we stayed at Mountain Marts' hotel, the Everest Boutique Hotel, in Kathmandu. The hotel is brand new, and we highly recommend it, too. Our itinerary described it as a 3-star hotel, but it is better than most 4-star hotels in the US. Our package also included a Kathmandu city tour before the trek, which we highly recommend, too. From start to finish, our experience was perfect! The Langtang valley is breathtaking, and everywhere we went the people were welcoming and friendly.
